Walker Stapleton: education funding should be used for prisons

"We're already spending too much unchecked money as it is on education...This is money that could be used for corrections services."

Colorado's public schools are chronically underfunded. Yet Walker Stapleton has opposed school funding. Instead his suggestion is to use existing public school funds on prisons.

In 2010, Stapleton told the Canon City Record he favored repealing landmark education funding initiative Amendment 23 and using the funds on a prison.

“It’s time education competes for funds...I will allow prisons to compete and ultimately be funded by precious tax money," Stapleton said.
